Identity Verification

Users of overseas forwarding services such as Rakuten Global Express are required to complete the “identity verification procedure” based on the amendment to the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds effective as of April 1, 2013.

Information required at the time of identification verification

The following information requires verification by official documents.
・Name
・Date of birth
・Current address
Please file documents which contain these pieces of information from My Page before using the service for the first time.

Identity Verification Instructions

Prepare one of the following combinations of ID/official document copies containing the required information, and use one of the methods listed below to verify your identity.

Identity verification using facial recognition(Takes around 10 minutes)

Authentication procedures are performed using a form of personal identification documentation that is complete with a picture of one's face, name, date of birth, and address, in addition to taking or sending a picture of the customer's face.

*Some customers may not be able to use the service depending on their country and age.

*Your information will never be used for any purpose other than verifying your identity.

*In addition to a photo of your face, you must also provide the necessary documents.
Please prepare an ID with your name, address, and date of birth.

*Once you complete the identity verification procedure by face recognition, you can freely set the first delivery destination.

Notes

・If the identity verification does not complete, we will not be able to deliver your package to overseas. In that case, you will need to either forward the product to an address or hotel in Japan, return it to the store, or discard the product. Identity verification using documents(Takes around one week)

We will ask you to submit multiple identification documents to verify your identity without using your photo. The combination of documents required will vary depending on whether you have documents that list your name, date of birth, and current address in full. Please check the following and prepare official documents that contain the required items.

*All documents must be in your own name.
*When submitting a copy of a health insurance card issued in Japan, please do so after hiding the “Insurer Number and Insured Person Code / Number.” Please understand that if the copy is submitted without hiding this information, you will be required to reupload the copy with this information hidden.

1.Those who have an identity verification document with all of their name, date of birth, and current address

In addition to one type of copy of identity verification document stating all of the necessary information, please submit one type of copy of an official document stating your own name and current address (a supplementary document).

<Examples of documents that can be submitted>

 Document 1 : Certificate of residence, proof of citizenship, identity card, passport (with your current address), driver’s license, etc.

 Document 2 : Certificate of residence, proof of citizenship, identity card, passport (with your current address), driver’s license, tax payment certification, social insurance benefits receipt, public utility (electricity, gas, water) receipts, etc.

Documents you cannot use as identification:

Mail invoice or delivery slips, mail from non-public agencies, internet shopping invoice or delivery slips, PC screenshots, business cards, etc.

*Student cards and passports without your current address cannot be used as ID

*Please cover the information that is not required for personal identification using post-its, etc., before making copies

2. If you do not have an ID with your name, date of birth, and address

In addition to a copy of one form of ID with your name and date of birth, please provide copies of two official documents(supplementary documents) containing your name and current address.

 Document 1 : Official resident card, etc.

 Document 2 : Tax payment certification, social insurance benefits receipt, public utility (electricity, gas, water) receipts, etc.

 Document 3 : Tax payment certification, social insurance benefits receipt, public utility (electricity, gas, water) receipts, etc.

Documents you cannot use as identification:

Mail invoice or delivery slips, mail from non-public agencies, internet shopping invoice or delivery slips, PC screenshots, business cards, etc.

・For customers who proceed with the identity verification by submitting documents, the delivery address for the first-time users will be the address registered as the "current address". You can specify a delivery address after the first shipment.
