Regarding the identity verification procedure*, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new verification method—facial recognition (eKYC = electronic Know Your Customer) in addition to the existing method of uploading documents.

*Based on the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds, all Rakuten Global Express users are required to complete the identity verification procedure before using our services. More Details

Facial recognition identity verification is a method of verifying your identity by taking a photo of your face online.
With this verification method, we can verify your ID in 5 to 10 minutes. Check here for more details.

Unfortunately this service is not available for Hong Kong and Macao customers. Customers in Hong Kong and Macau please do identity verification by uploading documents.

14-Jan-2021Shipments to the United Kingdom (Updated on Feb 9th)

From January 2021, a new VAT taxation rule has been adopted in the United Kingdom. For shipments worth GBP 135 or less, the shipment may be turned back by the local customs and returned to Japan unless the VAT is paid at the website of purchase in advance.

For customers who expect to ship a parcel with a total value less than GBP 135 to the United Kingdom, we recommend not purchasing these products. Also, depending on the future situation, we may determine that it is not possible for us to provide sufficient services and suspend new customer registrations for customers living in the United Kingdom. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your understanding in this matter.

Also, for customers who are shipping to the United Kingdom and the shipment is worth GBP 135 or less, our customer support personnel will contact you if the shipment is returned to Japan. Please contact our customer support if your shipment is delayed at customs.

18-Mar-2020Shipments to China: Updates on Measures Accompanying Japan Post Shipping Halt

Following the suspension of delivery by Japan Post to China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) on March 13, we asked you to temporarily refrain from instructions to pack and ship to that destination.
We have secured an alternative for shipping, so we will start accepting packing and shipping instructions today.
However, the following restrictions apply on the value, items and weights of what can be sent.

* If items are returned to Japan because import customs clearance was not possible, not only will we be unable to refund shipping costs, but you will need to pay for shipping costs for return.
Be sure to confirm the following before use.

* Ensure the total value of the goods per package is 1,000RMB or under. (However, import may be allowed up of items of about 5,000 RMB value if there is only one item in the package)
* Food products, chemicals (such as cosmetics), liquids, secondhand brand good can not be delivered. Please contact Customer Support for information on other items.
* Detailed information on the contents may be required. Our Customer Support team will contact you, so please provide your information.
* When importing, you may need to provide identification documents, personal import documents, and customs submission documents. Please submit these if requested to do so by the delivery company.

For products which cannot be delivered from the warehouse due to the above restrictions, please contact Customer Support to 1) cancel your order or 2) send it domestically within Japan instead or 3) dispose of it. Please note that a prescribed fee will be charged.
