On the basis of requests from the customs offices of EU member countries, as of September 1st, 2023, Rakuten Global Express will assign HS codes to the required packages on your behalf in accordance with the Statistical Code when shipping packages to the relevant country/region.

1-Jun-2023New Service Launch Announcement: Packing Options Service

We will start offering packing option service from June 12th, 2023 (JST) .

【About packing options】
This is a service that allows you to specify a detailed packing method for your package when you submit a packing request. All packages will be still very carefully packed at the warehouse as before, but if you prefer to have more solid packing for fragile items or to make your package ligher, we offer optional services for you.
Weight saving options will be provided free of charge, additional charges apply for for other services.
Please check here for more details.

With the start of this service, irregular package fee (1,500 JPY) will be charged for packing for long, thin or flat items* that are difficult to pack in regular-sized boxes, which were previously handled free of charge. Please be noted that the warehouse will judge which products are subject to and the option fee will be charged at the time of payment for international shipping fee.
* e.g., golf clubs, interior materials, etc.

【Free trial campaign】
From June 26th, 2023 (JST)*, we will be conducting a trial campaign where optional services will be virtually free for a limited time. For those customers who choose the optional service during the period will get Rakuten Points back at a later date.

Q: Why am I not charged for option services I selected when packing request?
A:The selected packing option may not be applicable due to reasons such as no need for weight reduction or protective packing, inability to accommodate the specified size, or inability to prioritize packing in a timely manner. Please contact our customer support for any questions.

Q: Can I use option services when I set Auto Pack/Ship?
A: From June 12th, 2023 (JST), you can set your preference on packing options in your personal settings on My Page.
In addition, you can not select priotiry option when you select Auto shipping.

24-Mar-2022Notice of Changes to the Specifications of the Packing Request System

Starting from April 7th, 2022, the following changes will be made to the specifications of the packing request system.

1. Changes to the units for selecting products for packing
[Before the changes]
In order to make a packing request, you have to select the products that need to be packed “by the item”.

[After the changes]
In order to make a packing request, you will select the items that need to be packed “by the box” in which they are put in when they arrive at the Rakuten Global Express warehouse.
* If you are buying from the same store and would like your items to be packed separately, please make sure to separate your orders.
* If you are placing a combined order and would like to request packing “by the item”, please note that we will charge an individual packing fee (a flat rate of 500 JPY per packing request).

2. Limits on the number of items that can be requested for packing

A maximum of 60 items could be requested for packing at the same time.

The following changes have been made to the "Rakuten Global Express Proxy Payment Service" whereby customers can make purchases at eligible shops via "C.O.D." (cash on delivery) by submitting an application in advance through My Page.

9-Feb-2022About the changes of displayed amount for items from Rakuten Ichiba

Starting February 10th, 2022, the following changes will be made affecting products purchased on Rakuten Ichiba.

1. The amount displayed on customers’ MyPage will change from ”the amount before coupon deductions” to ”the amount after coupon deductions.”
*This change will also be applied to products purchased before February 10th, 2022.
*Amount will not change automatically for products that are already being stored or packaged at Rakuten Global Express warehouses, or for products that have already been delivered. We ask customers who would like to change these displayed amount, Please contact customer support.
*If coupons were used to purchase multiple products, the product amount will be reflected proportionally so as to match the total amount. Please check here for further details.

2. Shipping invoices and delivery labels that showing product amount will display the amount after coupon deductions.
The amount after coupon deductions will apply to import and export declarations.

Further, with regard to products purchased from online shopping sites other than Rakuten Ichiba, we ask that customers continue to enter the relevant information in the Preregistration of Package Information (non-Rakuten items).

From January 2021, a new VAT taxation rule has been adopted in the United Kingdom. For shipments worth GBP 135 or less, the shipment may be turned back by the local customs and returned to Japan unless the VAT is paid at the website of purchase in advance.

For customers who expect to ship a parcel with a total value less than GBP 135 to the United Kingdom, we recommend not purchasing these products. Also, depending on the future situation, we may determine that it is not possible for us to provide sufficient services and suspend new customer registrations for customers living in the United Kingdom. Following the suspension of delivery by Japan Post to China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) on March 13, we asked you to temporarily refrain from instructions to pack and ship to that destination.
We have secured an alternative for shipping, so we will start accepting packing and shipping instructions today.
However, the following restrictions apply on the value, items and weights of what can be sent.

* If items are returned to Japan because import customs clearance was not possible, not only will we be unable to refund shipping costs, but you will need to pay for shipping costs for return.
Be sure to confirm the following before use.
